Potting

Vacuum potting - Epoxy

Epoxy is a type of plastic. The casting with plastics is applied as an insulating or protective function. Epoxy is hard, difficult to remove, not transparent and usually consists of 2 components. Epoxy is more often used for protection against the environment.

Vacuum potting - Silicones

Vacuum potting with silicone, also called silicone potting, is often used as a high-voltage connector to eliminate the air. This is because silicone is softer than epoxy. At HVPC, you can choose from various types of silicone, depending on the product.

HVPC also has a special technique for adhering silicones to silicones and/or adhering silicones to epoxy. Adhering silicones to silicone is often product and application specific. This is used when different silicone materials must be present in a product. This is particularly the case when there is a difference in price and/or durability.

Vacuum potting - Oil

Vacuum potting of high-voltage electronics with oil is a special technique. With its high MTBF, the hermetically sealed units in which the oil insulates and also provides heat transport are unique. HVPC has a process for increasing the high-grade high-voltage oil to a higher decisive strength by means of filtering and drying. After filtering, the oil is tested according to IEC60165. The major advantage of oil-filled units compared to plastic-filled units are the repair possibilities. The result is a reliable high-voltage product without mechanical stresses and ideal heat dissipation.

Developing casting moulds

In addition to vacuum potting, HVPC also has knowhowin the field of developing casting moulds. In cooperation with you, the casters and the constructor a tailor-made mould is developed. Casting moulds are required to shape the product. During the quotation phase, we already discuss the required casting mould and other tools that may be required to make the product.

Of course, your wish is important to determine how the product will be used. What temperatures it will be exposed to, the voltage, but also which medium is suitable for you. Epoxy, silicone and oil have their own thermal conduction (thermal matching), expansion and application.

For transformers, you could make an enclosure and cast it (this can be either oil or epoxy), as the enclosure can be hermetically sealed. For a transformer that has to be delivered without an enclosure, we usually choose Epoxy. Since Epoxy is on the outside, this does require a casting mould.
